Game Report: Westchester – Tristate
November 2, 2010 by: PatrickThis Halloween Sunday we had to play against one of the stronger teams in the league (they are ranked 3rd). Unfortunately we faced three last-minute cancellations bringing the already small selection for the match to 10 players. However, responding to the need for players, Jelle, whilst still injured, responded and showed up after all. Thanks again for showing up and bringing this very much needed support.
So with just 11 players, including two still injured players, we started the game. Playing defensively and compact we actually played very well. Heico and Jelle, being both injured, were given spots as pure offensive players. The complete team worked very hard and as a team. However, half-way through the first half Tristate got their first goal. Certainly with some luck and skill, we could have scored ourselves as well. In the second half, we realized that we could actually beat them and decided to play a bit more offensive. The fact that we did not had any subs in the end got the better hand of us, as we started to run out of steam. Regretfully, the focus and hard work took its toll towards the second part of the second half as we had to conceive our second goal (which was a bit of a lucky goal too). Their third came from a rebound of a short corner. So an unfortunate loss against a competitor for one of the play-off tickets.
